With the capture of Verandi Farley and several high-ranking Trossach members, the British wizarding world has finally caught a break. The rate of rogue werewolf attacks have started dropping at a steady rate and, hopefully, things will stay that way. The Ministry is starting to loosen some restrictions, like not arresting werewolves standing on the street for loitering, however there’s still an obvious power imbalance between wizardfolk and werewolves.
The Cotswolds pack are continuing to advocate for the rights of werewolves and petitioning to change the legislation that has been set in motion by the current Minister for Magic, whilst the remaining Trossachs members are trying to stay out of the spotlight and keep a low profile… for now.
Whilst the British wizarding world seems to have calmed down, the same cannot be said for over in Northern Europe where a rebellion of magical creatures has risen. The state of things has gotten so bad that the European Ministry has enacted protocols to protect those under eighteen whilst their adult witches and wizards fight to keep control of their countries.
Students from Durmstrang have been sent to Hogwarts to keep them safe and those not old enough to attend school have been sent to live with relatives or designated British Ministry officials outside of Europe for the time being.
Will the low rates of werewolf attacks in Britain continue? How long will Durmstrang students stay at Hogwarts? Will the creatures usurp the wizardfolk in Northern Europe? Only time will tell.
SEPTEMBER 2019 It's been a very long, eventful summer in the wizarding world. A baby was stolen, several high ranking Trossach members were imprisoned, and werewolf attacks have drastically dropped as a result. What will happen now school has returned?
MAY 2019 An attempt to capture the beta of the Trossachs has been launched. Were the Aurors successful in their mission? Go read more here!

As Alex sat in the common room, he was curled up in an armchair in the corner, eyes struggling to focus on the words in his all-time favourite book, The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. He supposed his exhaustion was to be expected because normally during mid-afternoon, straight after his classes, he headed straight to his dorms and crashed until late evening but he was trying to remedy that.
He wanted to have a normal sleep schedule so he could stay awake in classes... but it was hard. He often gave into temptation because when he slept, it was like he was at peace. He didn't have to deal with the world and all of it's cruelty. It was like he had disappeared, something that honestly would have been a dream come true for him.
He'd taken more drastic measures to disappear last month, but some prefect - that Alex only remembered the name of because they shared a name - managed to talk him off the ledge... literally. Ever seen then, Alex had been a bit antsy since seeing the guy, not sure if he'd told a Professor what he'd witnessed. Watchful eyes on him was the last thing that Alex needed. He just wanted to be left alone.
Alexander hadn't forgotten about the younger Ravenclaw boy, the tragedy that he'd managed to avoid. He couldn't quite get it out of his mind, worries that he might try it again. He was a prefect, yet he didn't want to divulge such private matters to Aiden or any other prefect. They didn't have a head of house yet either, so what was he supposed to do? The safest thing would be for him to report it to someone, but he was sure that that would mean the other Alex would just avoid him. That would be the worst possible outcome because the prefect felt that he was the most equipt to keeping an eye on him. Alexander had just finished up his classes, having gone separate ways with Aggy on his way up. He hadn't expected the boy plaguing his thoughts to be in the Common Room when he'd entered.
The Ravenclaw prefect stood still for a few too many moments before collecting himself. He hid his surprise fairly well, weighing the consequences in his mind. If he approached the younger boy, it could go either way. He could be yelled at, or he could gain a little insight into the other Alexander. He slowly approached, noting the book in Alex's hands. "Hey, Alex..." He hated being this awkward around someone, so he decided to perch on the arm of the chair instead of looming over the younger kid. "How're things going? I'm not mumming you or anything, I just want to know." He gave a nervous laugh and ran a hand through his hair. "How have classes been? I mean, I know I'm in a lot of them so I know what they've been like for me but it's different depending on the person, you know." He was rambling and he acknowledged that, but he wasn't sure what else he should say.

When tell-tale creak of the portrait sounded in the common room, Alex didn't pay it any mind. It was probably just a first year, or so he thought until suddenly there was someone sitting on the arm of his chair. Shit. There went his hope of not talking to anyone today, he realised with a frown. Glancing up, his frown only deepened further when he saw just who it was. Alexander McCarthy, the prefect who'd been his 'hero' last month. He was just about the last person he wanted to talk to as well.
As the older boy opened his mouth, Alex wanted to stand up and run away, but he knew that if he did, it would probably only raise alarm bells in the other boy's mind and he definitely didn't want that. So instead, he tried to make conversation back. "Hey, uh... Alex. Weird, that we have the same name, right?" he asked, voice stiff and awkward. "Classes are fine. Not - I mean, not really that exciting. I guess 'cause, er, well I'm already up to date on the textbooks... how's things on your end?"
Alexander gave the other boy an encouraging smile as he answered, a little amusement sparking in his eyes as he mentioned their shared name and then answered the older boy's question. "Yeah same here. The unfortunate thing for me is that I need to stay ahead or I'll fall behind quickly. I don't know how the other fifth year and seventh year prefects have done this before. I've always been really bad at time management." He gave a nervous chuckle, clutching the couch a little too tightly. It was good that the other Alex was finding things easy, but it did mean that he couldn't offer up tutoring or anything like that. "I'm sure I could fit you in if you ever needed help. That goes for any Raven really, but I just wanted to make sure that you knew."
"But yeah uhh, how are you doing? Like really?" Alex queried, peering down as his brows furrowed in concern. "I know you probably don't want to answer that question but you know...we gotta look out for each other, us Alexanders." He gave a small grin as he remembered that the thin boy shared a name. Something to lighten the mood from his probing question. If he didn't ask the question, who would? Who else had seen Alexander in the state he'd found him the night on the tower ledge? The thought of just leaving the younger Alex to his own devices made his own stomach drop. There was no way he'd be taking his eyes off of this kid.

"I'm... yeah, uh. Time. Can be a tricky thing... uh... cause, it...," Alex mumbled, not quite knowing what to say. Instead, he decided to return Xander's smile, his own however came back strained. Smiling felt odd... it was something he hadn't done in quite a while. It was rare he had reason to smile. Clearing his throat, Alex shook his head. "You, um... well, I dunno what the other people in your year are like but... you seem prefectly. Like a, uh... leader. Like... Tony... Stark. Since... y'know, you've got the same kinda hair as him. Except curly. Not straight."
How was he doing really? Shit, was the answer. He was doing crap. He still wanted to throw himself off the tower most days, but it was the fear of getting caught and talked down again that stopped him. But he couldn't say that... it'd just seem like he was begging for attention, something he didn't want. He didn't want to be forced to talk to some professional either. "I'm fine," he said, though he didn't quite look Xander in the eyes. It was harder to lie that way. "Don't worry, I'm not gonna... I'm just gonna focus on classes. Everything's fine."
