With the capture of Verandi Farley and several high-ranking Trossach members, the British wizarding world has finally caught a break. The rate of rogue werewolf attacks have started dropping at a steady rate and, hopefully, things will stay that way. The Ministry is starting to loosen some restrictions, like not arresting werewolves standing on the street for loitering, however there’s still an obvious power imbalance between wizardfolk and werewolves.
The Cotswolds pack are continuing to advocate for the rights of werewolves and petitioning to change the legislation that has been set in motion by the current Minister for Magic, whilst the remaining Trossachs members are trying to stay out of the spotlight and keep a low profile… for now.
Whilst the British wizarding world seems to have calmed down, the same cannot be said for over in Northern Europe where a rebellion of magical creatures has risen. The state of things has gotten so bad that the European Ministry has enacted protocols to protect those under eighteen whilst their adult witches and wizards fight to keep control of their countries.
Students from Durmstrang have been sent to Hogwarts to keep them safe and those not old enough to attend school have been sent to live with relatives or designated British Ministry officials outside of Europe for the time being.
Will the low rates of werewolf attacks in Britain continue? How long will Durmstrang students stay at Hogwarts? Will the creatures usurp the wizardfolk in Northern Europe? Only time will tell.
SEPTEMBER 2019 It's been a very long, eventful summer in the wizarding world. A baby was stolen, several high ranking Trossach members were imprisoned, and werewolf attacks have drastically dropped as a result. What will happen now school has returned?
MAY 2019 An attempt to capture the beta of the Trossachs has been launched. Were the Aurors successful in their mission? Go read more here!
t was the first Friday night of the school year and time to wind down after a busy week. Naturally, Jack had decided that the best way to do that was to host a little get together in the staff room with plenty of refreshments and snacks set up on some of the desks. It would be a great opportunity to welcome some of the newer Professors to Hogwarts, and to chat with them outside of the Great Hall or in corridors. He just hoped they'd show up.

Ariella had been dealing with a lot of family drama and now there was a teacher thing going on where she had to be social. The last thing she wanted was to fake a smile but if anything her brother did got out towards the others, she would have to deal with them even more.
Ariella arrived what she thought was on time and noticed one of the professors already there.
"Evening." she said calmly, trying to hide the icy tone in her voice for once in her life.
"This looks nice.. how are you?" Ariella tried to sound like she cared enough to pass the social test.

It was a feast! Almir loved parties, people, food and booze. He wondered how many whole chickens he could eat tonight. But he was looking forward to try and stuff himself to the max to break his record. “This is gonna be great,” the Swedish part giant proclaimed as he hit his much shorter friend on her schouder.
Upon arriving he already saw two people inside. With a big grin on his face he approached the entrance. “Haha! My friends-” Almir was cut off halfway his sentence as he met the top of the doorway with his face. “Oof-” The large man groaned and spat out some inaudible Swedish swear words. Rubbing his forehead and nose, he bowed down to enter properly this time. Once in the big grin on his face returned. With his arms wide open he proclaimed: “My friends! Let this feast be glorious!” Before wrapping his big strong arms around the other Professors.
Christian didn't think he was the busiest professor at Hogwarts, but he did think that his position was both the most and least strenuous of the all. On the one hand, it wasn't very complicated but on the other, there was a lot more risk if errors were made. He'd learned that putting a cushioning charm on the Quidditch pitch was helpful when teaching first years to dive. It meant that the broom (and the student) came out reasonably alright if they misjudged the distance and went splat. They also bounced when they hit the ground. It was hilarious. A great story to tell at this teacher's get together!
He thought this event was great! It seemed like they never really saw each other but that might just be because Chris spends all day on the grounds. The only other professor he saw was Almir. And there he was!... bumping into the top of the door. Chris winced and touched his nose as if he felt it. He followed Almir inside and burst out laughing when he saw them all enveloped in the large man's arms.
"Hiya everyone! First week, huh. Pure chaos." Christian spotted coffee and strode over to it, not sure whether he wanted it to be caffeinated or not. At the very least, he was in the mood for something sweet, and he plopped two dollops of cream into his cup. He smiled, pleased, and turned back to the room.
Clickety-clack went the stilettos on the ancient stones that lead to the staff room. The professor could feel various teenaged eyes on her; of course they would be. Even in her 'casual' attire of tight, dark jeans and a pretty tank top she looked smokin'. Zoe was a little too excited to catch up for dinner with her colleagues - back in Australia they were like a second family... and God knows she needed one. Though there was not one lap, other than perhaps Minerva's, that she didn't want to grind on at least twice. That gorgeous Jack... he looked like he had the experience she'd enjoy … that gorgeous Sebastian could hump her leg any day... the fresh meat of a potions teacher, baby-faced Ariella had the rosiest lips that were no doubt as juicy as they looked... Christian and his nerdy little glasses whose [broom]stick she'd like to ride... ahhhhh the professor found that she'd been trailing her fingertips along the walls in her sexy little day dream along the halls.
Zoe was only stopped when she realised that a huge man was stuck momentarily in the door way. She'd almost walked right into him. "Oh hello big boy!" Zoe cooed merrily as she put her hands against his back. Once he was through Zoe bounced into the room from behind Almir and his sexy arm candy, Runa. Zoe's bright blue eyes watched with barely contained excitement thrumming through her body as the giant man wrapped her coworkers up in a hug.
"Oh mate, these kids are salty as fuck," Zoe sighed heavily as she reached for the bottle of wine and poured herself an oversized glass-full. "Anyone care for a drink? I definitely need one. Do you know what one kid said to me in class? I have the hots for the teacher… then she wanted to leave because I told her no one cared who she had the hots for. Can you believe it?" as she spoke, Zoe sat down on the table and crossed her long legs.
Runa did not like social gatherings. It put her in enough of a foul mood that she had accidentally hacked the root she had been digging out in two, which absolutely did not help with her grumpiness. She grumbled a few choice swearwords to herself while finishing her task of digging out the rest of her gurdyroots. Apparently it had become fashion among the sixth years, especially those who took advanced potions, to spike each other's drinks with love potion. And as gurdyroots made for a more effective antidote for love potions, the school matron had asked her if she could grow some. Runa had taken the opportunity to tinker a bit with the plant. She had crossed it with a common red beet. It had taken Runa countless attempts to even have something growing, but now she was finally harvesting actual roots which had taken a faint yellow colour. Next would be to test if she had indeed managed to remove or at least lessen the taste of bogeys the gurdyroot tended to take when brewed into a tea, making any potion rather disgusting.
But there was no time for that now. Thanks to social obligations. She cleaned the earth and dirt off her body with a quick shower of cold water right outside the back door of the hut, then scurried inside, completely starkers, to put on some clean clothes. She donned some dark green robes and pulled them together around her waist with a wide belt, adorned with a beautiful clasp in the form of a wolf's head. She did not take the trouble to put on shoes, however. She rarely ever did. Instead she wound some braided ribbons around her feet and calves up to her knees underneath the robes so it almost looked like she wore sandals. Her damp hair put up in a messy bun she followed Almir up to the castle.
Instinctively she tensed up when her big friend hit her shoulder in amusement. He sometimes tended to misjudge his own strength, but Runa, despite being petite, was used to it and had learned to take the occasional blow rather well without actually hurting. "We'll see," she consented, trying not to dampen her friend's mood.
It was strange to think about how rarely Runa was actually in the castle considering she was a teacher at the school. She joined for lunch or dinner at times, but was rarely ever seen in the hallways. Despite this they found the get together just fine. The small woman hit her friend in the side when he walked against the doorframe. Honestly, he should know better. But then, maybe he was not used to it anymore that doors were not high enough for him when their own front door admitted him just fine. Once he had finally entered successfully and Runa had slipped in after him, she was drawn into a group hug. There was one person whose hugs she tolerated and that was Almir, but when other people were involved, that was a big no no. Quickly she ducked out under the arms of her friend and stood to the side to avoid any further involvement. Her arms crossed over her chest she stood by, watching her co-workers mingle. She listened when the new joiner spoke about her students in a way that made Runa raise her eyebrows. That was some strong language considering the evening had just begun. Deciding that she could just as well wait for drinks to start flowing properly and people to forget about her, she sat down on a different table than the loud person, folding her legs in a lotus seat. She might take a beer or two if Almir brought some. Wine was far too fancy for her.
While Graham was no fan of social gatherings he always went if they were work related. The new Professor was going to use this opportunity to get to know his new co-workers. This new job still felt like a step down from his previous one. It was a reminder he had failed. Failed to protect his wife and failed to protect his team. The only honorable thing he could do after that was resign and find a job closer to his children. He couldn’t get closer to this. He was embarrassed, the perfectionist didn’t handle failure well. However Graham wasn’t the type of person to just give up on everything like that. This would all work out somehow.
When he arrived at the meeting location, quite some people already made it. Usually he was one of the first but this was a pleasant surprise. The new history teacher approached the host of the event. “Mr. O’Connor, thank you for having us tonight. I look forward working with you,” he said as he gave the man a hand. “I see we’ve got quite a young team,” he said as he took a look around before continue to introduce himself to other teachers.
Note: feel free to say Graham introduced himself to your character.
s the other Professors slowly started dwindling into the staff room, a relaxed grin spread across Jack's face. Good, he was glad to see all of them make an effort and show up. It was a sign of respect, in his eyes, to at least try and get to know their fellow coworkers even if they weren't interested in the subject they taught. It definitely reflected well on them.
When Ariella Tyrell walked in and greeted him, Jack nodded at her. "Yes, I'm well, Ariella. I'm glad to have you teaching this year. You always were skilled in Potions, back during school. I'm sure you'll do well teaching our students," he said kindly, offering her a small smile. She'd been in some of his classes and he remembered her well... just as he'd be sure to remember the rest of the Tyrells in the following years. They were a very... interesting bunch.
The next to walk in was Almir, bonking the top of his head on the door frame. Laughing, Jack joked, "I'd offer to give you a 'pat' better but I don't think I'd quite reach." Not that he was short, but Almir was very very tall. He supposed that had something to do with being 1/4 giant. All of a sudden, Almir was wrapping him up in a hug along with the other Professors and Jack just laughed because after a few years of working with the bloke, he was used to it... although, as he eyed the other Professors faces, he wasn't sure how they quite felt about it. Never one to not say what was on his mind, he reached up and patted Almir's arm lightly. "Just remember, Almir. It's always best to ask our new Professors before touching them," he told the man, voice quiet. This was for Almir's ears only, after all, and he'd hate to see the younger man he considered a friend to get in trouble for a friendly gesture taken the wrong way.
With a smile on his face, Jack watched as some of the other, quiet Professors filed in. Christian, someone who he'd grown to consider a friend, and then Runa the Herbology Professor who seemed quite at peace sitting by herself. Jack supposed if she wanted to talk, then she could approach them. He addressed Christian with a nod. "Yes, first week always is chaos. How are your classes going so far?"
Jack eyebrows raised as he watched Zoe Savage, a new member of faculty, waltzed into the room next. She was certainly... overdressed, and full of a lot of opinions. Clearing his throat, Jack said, "I'm unsure what salty means... however, yes, there are some challenging students this year. I've already given out a few detentions and deducted house points... I find a stern approach is quite helpful at the beginning." He wondered who she was talking about, and made a mental note to ask her about it later. That type of behaviour sounded quite alarming, not to mention inappropriate.
Finally, Graham Avery arrived and immediately, Jack gave him a firm handshake in response. "You're welcome, Professor Avery. We're very excited to have you join our team this year. I'm quite certain you'll make an excellent addition to the faculty, as will the rest of our new Professors," Jack told him. He nodded as Graham mentioned that the tea was quite 'young,' because it was true, however... "Everyone was chosen on their skill sets. Some of our youngest Professors proved to be quite knowledgeable in their interviews compared to quite a few older applicants." Them being young certainly didn't worry Jack. He was hired when he was twenty-two, after all, and he'd done well as a Professor in his opinion. He had only the highest of hopes for this lot as well.

Ariella nodded at Jack. She was the expert in her field, a master in the art of potions and poisons. Ariella didn't think she would be a good teacher though but she was sure she was going to be able to at least hopefully pass on some wisdom, after all they needed all the wisdom they could use in here.
"Thank you, I am sure some of the students taking my class will learn from it." she wasn't too hopeful for society. Her eyes flicked towards the door and a giant man came walking in, it was the one person who thought she was a damn student.
"Hel--" she wanted to finish her greeting but then she was wrapped in a hug which sent shivers down her spine and she tried to struggle to get out of it.
"Let me go.." she demanded and once she was free she shot dagger glares at the guy before taking a seat. Another professor complained about a student and Ariella rolled her eyes, it was going to be one of those meetings.
Jack then spoke about the skill sets of them all and Ariella highly doubted some of them from her co workers.
She just quietly sat in her seat and observed the room and the people in it.
Christian was made cheerful by the amount of people in the room, and wondered whether he could get a conversation going about the Quidditch season just gone. He scanned the room. There was Almir, he remembered trying to explain the rules in his first year teaching. Runa didn't care, she never had, he knew Jack would humour him, but Christian doubted the new teachers cared either. He sipped his coffee, and suppressed the urge to bore everyone with Quidditch.
Ahh Jack O'Connor, the golden boy. Christian was always baffled by the mix of affection and admiration he had for Deputy Headmaster. They were only five years apart and Christian saw Jack as a friend, close friend even, but he also saw him as a mentor. Someone to look up to. He tipped his glass to the man, gesturing vaguely. "You guys have kids bouncing off the walls, still full of energy from the summer holidays. I have kids bouncing off the castle walls... literally." Another trip to the hospital wing, another lecture from Madam Pomfrey.
He was glad to see that the new Muggle Studies professor... Zoe... was settling in well. It was always nice to see people relax into a new setting so quickly. He laughed at her complaint, taking a seat at the table across from her. He contemplated pursuing it, but he didn't want to get into that sort of conversation. It meant he'd have to follow it up later, and finding rule breaking students was no fun at all.

While stuck in the door he noticed a hand on his back. When he turned his blue eyes fell on a lovely lady. “Ahh! Hi there,” he greeted her with a blooming smile. Hadn’t he been stuck he would have looked graceful just then.
It seemed that his enthusiasm had gotten the better off him. When he noticed the little lady wasn’t too happy with him, Almir immediately let go. “Whoops sorry. Welcome on-board little doxy,” he said and just managed to resist patting her head. At least Jack was happy to see him. He went through his knees, so they were at eye level. “Feel free to give me that pat. Jackie pats are great,” he grinned at the defense teacher. Al was always happy to see his little Hogwarts family. The tall man nodded at the older man’s advice. “Sorry, buddy. I just get so happy to see all these lovely people,” he said as he teared up a little.
Another familiar face had joined them. Almir approached the Flying instructor with open arms. “Look at my angel-man! You’re here!” He lifted the slightly older Professor and spun his bud around. Cristian was cool, Al loved watching the guy fly. Sadly, he was too large for brooms and he had never been allowed to play. People considered his strength unfair.
When he put the man back on the floor, he turned back to his bestie Runa. “Come, let’s have a drink so we can toast to a new year!” The deep voice echoed through the room as he pulled two large bottles of mead. “Swedish brewed by my auntie herself,” he stated with pride as he started filling glasses and handing them out. When he stopped at Jack, he waited for a moment with a grin on his face. “SPEECH!” JACK O'CONNOR,ARIELLA TYRELL,ALMIR VILGOT ASKELAND,@christian,ZOE SAVAGE,@runa,
The big group hug... that Zoe was quietly observing with amusement only made the young woman chuckle as one of the other little ladies got shitty. The Australian kept her bright, cheeky eyes on Ariella as she took a drink of her wine and … she was disappointed when she saw the girl roll her eyes after Zoe shared her story with the teachers. That was not a good start to their professional relationship. "Salty... oh god I've never had to explain the term before," she laughed, scrunching her nose up, "I guess another term for a total sour puss? Grumpy cat? … ok so modern vernacular is extremely hard to explain to wizards whose ideas of the internet is something loosely related to a bunch of spiders," Zoe teased playfully before taking a very long drink of her wine as Jack turned to another one of her scrumptiously good-looking coworkers; the brightly bookish Graham Avery.
With Christian sitting down opposite her, Zoe turned her attention to him for the moment. "How goes the flying? Have you spotted our next national super-star seeker in the new firsties yet?" Zoe asked with a smile spreading across her face and dimples forming in her cheeks. "Can I ask - when you fly do you have to charm your glasses so they don't fall off? I imagine it would be very bad timing for them to fall off at 100 feet in the air?" Zoe asked curiously as she took another sip of her wine... yet there was nothing left. Oh damn, Zoe reached for the wine bottle and re-poured. "Oh! Are they charmed to have like... mini-windscreen wipers as well? I imagine there's a lot of bugs that like to go splatto on a spring day?"
Just as she finished asking her questions of Christian, the huge man that Zoe couldn't wait to investigate the anatomy of pulled out mead and loudly announced that Jack should make a speech. Zoe grabbed one of the glasses thankfully and took an enthusiastic long drink of the amber liquid - initially it clashed with the palate from her wine but it was a very nice drop indeed. "Almir, if we weren't colleagues I'd think you're trying to get me tipsy," she said with a grin before turning to Jack. "Aye, speech Captain Jack!"
