With the capture of Verandi Farley and several high-ranking Trossach members, the British wizarding world has finally caught a break. The rate of rogue werewolf attacks have started dropping at a steady rate and, hopefully, things will stay that way. The Ministry is starting to loosen some restrictions, like not arresting werewolves standing on the street for loitering, however there’s still an obvious power imbalance between wizardfolk and werewolves.
The Cotswolds pack are continuing to advocate for the rights of werewolves and petitioning to change the legislation that has been set in motion by the current Minister for Magic, whilst the remaining Trossachs members are trying to stay out of the spotlight and keep a low profile… for now.
Whilst the British wizarding world seems to have calmed down, the same cannot be said for over in Northern Europe where a rebellion of magical creatures has risen. The state of things has gotten so bad that the European Ministry has enacted protocols to protect those under eighteen whilst their adult witches and wizards fight to keep control of their countries.
Students from Durmstrang have been sent to Hogwarts to keep them safe and those not old enough to attend school have been sent to live with relatives or designated British Ministry officials outside of Europe for the time being.
Will the low rates of werewolf attacks in Britain continue? How long will Durmstrang students stay at Hogwarts? Will the creatures usurp the wizardfolk in Northern Europe? Only time will tell.
SEPTEMBER 2019 It's been a very long, eventful summer in the wizarding world. A baby was stolen, several high ranking Trossach members were imprisoned, and werewolf attacks have drastically dropped as a result. What will happen now school has returned?
MAY 2019 An attempt to capture the beta of the Trossachs has been launched. Were the Aurors successful in their mission? Go read more here!
To prepare the older students for the big world out there, Graham wanted to get through the biggest recent wizarding wars. He hoped that the students would learn wat started a conflict and escalated it to a war. Most importantly how they ended. These people were the future of wizard kind. With the werewolf conflict going on, he hoped to send them into the world prepared. It saddened him that yet another generation would grow up during a war. It seemed humanity never learned.
“Good morning class,” he welcomed the first students entering. Hopefully they wouldn’t fall asleep on him. History of Magic wasn’t a very wise pick for the first class of the day. “Welcome. From today on I’ll be taking over from Professor Barns. You can call me Professor Avery,” he gave his introduction. Hopefully the students weren’t too big into politics. The new teacher didn’t want to waste time being asked questions because people recognized him from the newspapers.
“This term we will be focusing on the three big wizarding wars of the 20th century. The last will be a heavy subject for some of you as it only ended twenty years ago. Some of you will have lost family in that war. If things get too close to home, please let me know. But first, we shall start with the one that took place the longest ago. Could anyone give me a short summary of the conflict?”

History of Magic was one of Grace's better subjects, one that she enjoyed a lot actually, and this new Professor seemed lovely too... he was familiar, though. Did he used to work at the Ministry of Magic? Grace could have sworn she'd seen his picture in the Daily Prophet before, having something to do with the werewolf situation. It was plausible he did work there especially considering the current Minister for Magic was Minister Avery.
As Professor Avery brought up the subject at hand today, Grace frowned because she'd grown up hearing about the war. Her dad played a big role, as did her mother, and they'd both fought in the Battle of Hogwarts. Her mother's mum had even been killed as a result of the war, had her house stormed by Death Eaters whilst her mum was at school. For lack of a better word, it was awful. Absolutely awful.
Thankfully, they weren't focusing on that war to begin with, which was good and Professor Avery reassured them that they'd be talking about it later. Raising her hand, Grace tentatively gave Professor Avery a short summation of the first wizarding conflict. "The, um... the global wizarding war was started by Grindewald and his followers. They wanted to get rid of the International Statute of Wizarding Secrecy. It took place in continental Europe in the 1920s and ended in 1945."

And while you are sitting indoors waiting for the storm to pass I will be outside dancing in the rain

Wizarding wars. They were interesting but also nothing special, not to Scarlett. Though she was curious about something and maybe the professor could answer, she wasn't dumb and she wasn't someone who didn't do her homework but she was interested in wars and how they are involved with other wars.
"So do you know if any of these wars are involved with other wars from the past?" she asked with her hand slightly raised so she didn't seem too much like an asshole.
Melinda finished chewing on a blood lollipop from her last trip to Hogsmeade. She threw it into a nearby trashcan as she walked the corridors. These blood flavored lollipops seemed like it would be the best way for Mel to try and function among the Hogwarts student population now that she was a vampire. It tasted like blood so hopefully would satisfy her requirement for it without having to hurt anybody.
Adjusting her school bag Melinda hurried on down the corridors and entered the History of Magic classroom. Quickly taking a seat Melinda listened as Professor Avery said they'd be learning about the wizarding wars. Melinda was familiar with the second wizarding war as it only ended twenty years ago. Her parents managed to survive it so it probably wouldn't affect her the way it would some people. It was still a pretty terrible war and she felt bad for anyone who actually had to live through it.
“Thank you, Miss. Longbottom. You are correct.” Graham scribbled down a reminder to give points at the end of the class. They were off to a good start. “Grindewald was not the only one who tried to end the International Statute of Wizarding Secrecy. Carlotta Pinkstone who was born around the time when the conflict with Grindewald took place, shared the same views. Remarkably is that Grindewald is considered a tyrant and she received a chocolate frog card for it. The key difference of course being Grindewald starting a war and she protested by revealing she was a witch in front of muggles. Which led to a series of convictions and imprisonments in Azkaban.” Graham loved little random facts and sometimes should really stop sharing them.
The Professor gave a quick nod towards the Slytherin and listened to her question. He paused, thinking of a good answer. “I believe all wars and conflicts are influenced by each other. Some people might not be happy with a result or decision and fight against it. Take for example this very example. The whole conflict with Grindewald might not have happened if the statue wasn’t created. But that too was created from a conflict of a witch hunt. A war the muggles called out on witches,” he tried to wrap it up because he could go hours ahead. He just had to keep it close to the subject. “And if Grindewald never got imprisoned, the dark lord might not have gotten the elder wand, making him a way less fearsome foe in the second wizarding battle,” he explained. Even till this day, Graham was reluctant to say the man’s name. He had lost most of his family in that war. When the end battle happened, he was only a student.
“The global wizarding war might be considered the biggest threat. While the two more recent ones might be more imprinted in our minds, it only involved the United Kingdom. This went further, as said by the name: global.” Blue eyes scanned the room to sense the mood. As a new teacher he still wasn’t entirely sure how to handle teens. As long as he didn’t go too rough on them like he would’ve done with aurors, he hoped to be fine.
“To me the most fascinating and terrifying aspect of war is how a madman or woman gains followers. And in some ways this made Grindewald perhaps more terrifying than the dark lord. It’s in the way the ideals are put. Just out of curiosity: let me ask you: who of you believe wizard kinds freedom is oppressed by having to hide and cover everything up. Could muggles and wizards be able to coexist knowing of each other?”

'You are correct.' The words had Grace ducking her head and smiling because she'd gotten it right. She hadn't fumbled the... uh, quaffle or anything. She'd scored! With her eyes focused on the front where Professor Avery stood, Grace took in every word that he was saying, nodding occasionally because Merlin's beard, he knew a lot! It made sense given that he was, obviously, a History of Magic professor.
She definitely agreed with his viewpoint on how it was both fascinating and terrifying to think of how somebody like Grindewald got so many to follow him. Raising her hand once more, Grace said quietly, "He... he must have been pretty charismatic, right? Or... manipulative, at least, to get people to follow him." After a moment, Grace's hand rose yet again as she decided to answer his question about whether muggles and wizards could co-exist. "I... I think... I don't think so, Professor. Wizards would be made out to be too different, too scary. I think because our powers aren't well-known to muggles, it could lead to fear and... and fear leads to really silly actions. I don't think it would be safe for anyone really."
Rebekah thought about what the answer could be to the Professors question but she was beaten to the punch, she didn't mind though since she hardly knew the history for her Aunt not caring about her enough to teach her. Rebekah really did need to do her research at the library so she wasn't looking like a total fool when it came to this class. When the professor asked another question the same student who answered spoke again. Rebekah could tell this girl was really smart just from her knowledge of the war. The blue haired girl began jotting down notes so she didn't look like a complete and utter idiot in the near future.
Aria sat a her desk listening to the lesson and smirking when Professor Avery brought up Grindewald, and in her mind the burden that freaking started the whole purist argument. Aside from Salazar's views and she had watched as Grace Longbottom answered the questions. Which caused her to chuckle and when Professor Avery asked the question, if muggles and wizards coexist. The witch decided to chime in when Grace said what she had to say, and she said. "In a way I have to agree with Grace, but I do think if wizards weren't so far up their asses with trying to keep everything secret we could coexist." she said with a shrug. And then she decided to add, "If we were to coexist there would be too many muggles trying to learn how to use magic. And not to mention, I am not a purist, but the muggles fear us, just because were different. And muggles hate change" she said hoping to not be too much.
After she said that, she added more, "I also think influential wizards would be too goddamn proud to even work with muggles. Even if I do think we should coexist, but there should be limits. Such as muggles unless you are gifted with magic should be using it. Plus we easily can put our mind together to do good. But history has ruined that, and Grindelwald were one of the wizards to ruin that." she said giving a shrug. Even if she knew that she'd might get herself into some sort of trouble. But she was only stating the facts, that people refused to even see.
