With the capture of Verandi Farley and several high-ranking Trossach members, the British wizarding world has finally caught a break. The rate of rogue werewolf attacks have started dropping at a steady rate and, hopefully, things will stay that way. The Ministry is starting to loosen some restrictions, like not arresting werewolves standing on the street for loitering, however there’s still an obvious power imbalance between wizardfolk and werewolves.
The Cotswolds pack are continuing to advocate for the rights of werewolves and petitioning to change the legislation that has been set in motion by the current Minister for Magic, whilst the remaining Trossachs members are trying to stay out of the spotlight and keep a low profile… for now.
Whilst the British wizarding world seems to have calmed down, the same cannot be said for over in Northern Europe where a rebellion of magical creatures has risen. The state of things has gotten so bad that the European Ministry has enacted protocols to protect those under eighteen whilst their adult witches and wizards fight to keep control of their countries.
Students from Durmstrang have been sent to Hogwarts to keep them safe and those not old enough to attend school have been sent to live with relatives or designated British Ministry officials outside of Europe for the time being.
Will the low rates of werewolf attacks in Britain continue? How long will Durmstrang students stay at Hogwarts? Will the creatures usurp the wizardfolk in Northern Europe? Only time will tell.
SEPTEMBER 2019 It's been a very long, eventful summer in the wizarding world. A baby was stolen, several high ranking Trossach members were imprisoned, and werewolf attacks have drastically dropped as a result. What will happen now school has returned?
MAY 2019 An attempt to capture the beta of the Trossachs has been launched. Were the Aurors successful in their mission? Go read more here!
Daniel has a swagger to his walk, indicating his own confidence in himself. He's got a charming smile to go along with his exaggerated walk, that usually endears him to people before he's even said two words.
Smiling all the time, how does he manage it? Behind the smiles to everyone he sees, is a tense jaw which he often grinds unconsciously.
Awkward silences are the kryptonite of this man. He will find any excuse to fill the air with jokes, comments or suggestions.
Daniel is a heavy smoker, but he likes to smell nice and fresh. He ducks out of meetings, parties, and the like to use it as a stress reliever. With a life like his, it's necessary.
Likes: tracking, pretty people, soccer,
Dislikes: werewolves, his job, fish (both as pets and as food),
Boggart: Juliane along with all the werewolves he's found and helped kill, in a half-transformed state
Mirror of Erised: Juliane pregnant and he's the minister of magic.
Patronus: Thestral
history
1995: Although he does not particularly remember this year, it is one of great importance. Daniel can recall the look on his mother's face as she tried to explain why they couldn't go out anymore. As she tried to explain war and hell to him. He didn't understand then, but he's beginning to now.
1998: War is the only life eight-year-old Daniel had ever known. He remembers the funeral of his aunt, his grieving family. Funeral after funeral after funeral. So many dead, almost none of them in which he knew.
2000: Ten years old, yearning for his Hogwarts letter. Ezekiel had already received one, why hadn't Daniel? He was upset and outraged that he had to wait until he was eleven. How unfair.
2001: Having finally gotten his letter to Hogwarts and promptly being sorted in Slytherin, no fuss from the hat at all. He'd wanted to be a Ravenclaw like his parents but Slytherin was second best. He'd grow to love it, learn the art of a slippery serpent and be the eyes and ears for the upper years.
2008: Daniel meets the love of his life, Juliane She's 4 years his senior and has a bright future as an Obliviator. She was stubborn and cold, but also found his jokes hilarious enough to crack her icy exterior. They'd met in a bookstore, while he was buying mystery novels and she was getting witch magazines. She helps him get an internship in the Ministry, which will become a full-time job.
2012: Finally having plucked up the courage, and the money, Daniel proposes to Juliane under the cloudy sky of Valentines day. It's awfully cheesy but it feels right.
2014: Daniel won't find out until much later, but his fiance has been bitten by a werewolf. She decided that he doesn't need to know. This almost costs him his life as he discovers her 'hiding' spot a month after she's bitten. She'd tied herself to oak in the back of her cottage and not surprisingly, she'd gotten out. She was ripping the neighbor's kids to shreds by the time he got there, and almost turns on her. His killing spell gets her first. The neighbour, father to the son dead on the ground, is still alive, but barely. It's only once he's called the auror's that he realises that this was his girlfriend.
2015: Court proceedings occur and with a few tricks he learned his obliviator fiance, he manages to turn the tables his way. The neighbour is ruled as having acting in self-defence, and Daniel? Well he was just the witness who found them all. This is the year that his cousin Ezekiel is brutalised by a werewolf in his care. The odds just keep stacking up against these non-human creatures.
2017: Daniel transfers from Pest Advisory Bureau into Werewolf Registry. A deserved promotion, a lot of people tell him. His pockets sure were happy with the pay rise, but the work was dry and the werewolves set him on edge. The change taught him a lot about self-control, and patience.
"I didn't say you weren't up to my high standards." He murmured churlishly, folding his arms cross his chest in a defensive manner. He knew she was upset, her teary eyes screamed this to him yet he didn't know what to do and what to say. She wasn't making this any easier on him and part of him resented her for it. She may have been just as stuck as he did, but she didn't understand! She never would! When she brought up the fact they'd been dating for 4 months, he cringed and relaxed his arms. "Look, I didn't want to okay? I thought we could hold it off long enough..." Long enough for what Adrian? To break the engagement? For him to find some dark secret about the Selwyn's that he'd use to break the engagement? For him to man up to his father? "Well you didn't mention wanting to. How am I supposed to know? I'm not actually your boyfriend." In fact, he was her arranged fiance. He didn't know if that made it better or worse.
As tears began sliding down her cheeks, the guilt hit him sharply. This wasn't supposed to be what happened. She wasn't supposed to cry...she was supposed to tell him off and arrange for them to practice kissing. He'd dread them but at least he'd get desensitized to it. He couldn't bring himself to make those arrangement...he had thought about it once or twice but each time that pit in his stomach opened up. Her demand for him to want to kiss her, made him scrunch up his face and rub both of his eyes. "I don't know Vinda. I've been asking myself the same question for the past 4 months. Don't you think I wish I wanted you? Don't you think I wish I could be a good son and a fucking fiance?"
He regretted swearing at her the instant the words came out of his mouth. His face went ashen and he raised a hand to place on her shoulder. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean-"
