With the capture of Verandi Farley and several high-ranking Trossach members, the British wizarding world has finally caught a break. The rate of rogue werewolf attacks have started dropping at a steady rate and, hopefully, things will stay that way. The Ministry is starting to loosen some restrictions, like not arresting werewolves standing on the street for loitering, however there’s still an obvious power imbalance between wizardfolk and werewolves.
The Cotswolds pack are continuing to advocate for the rights of werewolves and petitioning to change the legislation that has been set in motion by the current Minister for Magic, whilst the remaining Trossachs members are trying to stay out of the spotlight and keep a low profile… for now.
Whilst the British wizarding world seems to have calmed down, the same cannot be said for over in Northern Europe where a rebellion of magical creatures has risen. The state of things has gotten so bad that the European Ministry has enacted protocols to protect those under eighteen whilst their adult witches and wizards fight to keep control of their countries.
Students from Durmstrang have been sent to Hogwarts to keep them safe and those not old enough to attend school have been sent to live with relatives or designated British Ministry officials outside of Europe for the time being.
Will the low rates of werewolf attacks in Britain continue? How long will Durmstrang students stay at Hogwarts? Will the creatures usurp the wizardfolk in Northern Europe? Only time will tell.
SEPTEMBER 2019 It's been a very long, eventful summer in the wizarding world. A baby was stolen, several high ranking Trossach members were imprisoned, and werewolf attacks have drastically dropped as a result. What will happen now school has returned?

but the loneliness never left me
Veronica liked the aesthetic of Hogwarts. It was big and lovely and the art was fascinating, and often times it had opinions of its own. The history of the place was rich and going to school in a massive castle felt more like fiction than reality, but castles were impractical. They were massive and made of stone. Even with all the enchantments in the world, the halls were still made of stone and the giant structure was drafty as can be.
Finally, Veronica gave up on sleeping in her dorm. One of the other girls was snoring there anyway. Taking care to be quiet, Ron slipped on a second pair of socks over the pair she was already wearing, gathered up her quilt and wrapped it around her before moving into the common room and sprawling out on the ground in front of the fire. There was a perfectly good sofa, but she liked sleeping on the floor, strange as that was. It made her think of her time before Jones' had adopted her. She'd been Veronica Faulkner back then. She used to sleep on the floor all the time, nestled under her bed just in case one of her mother's boyfriends stumbled into her room. The floor felt safe. Only when she gave that a second thought did she realize how bizarre that would be to most people.
None the less, she was eventually able to drift off to sleep. When she woke again, the fire had died out and she was in a cold sweat, kicking her blankets off of her and breathing heaving, trying to shake herself out of her nightmare. "It's just a dream," she told herself quietly, looking into the ash and dying embers. She was still trying to steady her nerves when she realized that she wasn't alone anymore, despite it being the weekend and most people likely wanting to sleep in. "Hello?" she called out warily.
Often a mind has many things it thinks about when one is trying to sleep. As she lied in bed, listening to the soft sounds of her sleeping roommates, Ollie was wide awake. All night she couldn't sleep because of what had been said in classes, what had happened to her friends and most of all, what her dormmates must think of her because she was dating Gabriel Avery. To Ollie he was the most amazing boy she ever met, he was sweet, caring and very romantic. But the class they were in, the history class that went quite south quite fast.. he was so mean.
She knew the two parts of a set of triplets sleeping near her hated him. She had heard the whispers sometimes, Ollie wasn't deaf but she also didn't understand their hatred. Gabriel might not have liked these girls, might not have liked what Lydia did but a lot of people didn't. Ollie asked him to be nice, not to be mean to them because poor Lydia went through enough. Gabriel wouldn't just be mean for no reason right? He might have been defending a friend? She remembered his protective arm around her, like he tried to shield her.
She remembered Joshua asking why she was dating Gabriel like she was making a big mistake but she loved him. This was just teens being teens right? None of this was really real? No she believed that Gabriel is a good person and she would prove it to her friends but right now she needed a hug so she crawled out of bed and headed out to the common room. Gabriel might be awake and she might be lucky to get a hug otherwise she would write an owl to Evan and ask him to come give her one.
Either way she was going to get that hug and as she walked out of the girl's dorm she heard screaming. As fast as her legs would take her she came down the stairs and looked at her older sister on the floor. "Veronica? Are you okay? Are you hurt?" she asked approaching her as quick as she could, trying not to bump into chairs or beanbags.

Veronica heaved a sigh when she realized that Oliva was the 'intruder'. Not that there was much to intrude upon. She was in a public space. Besides, it might have been nice to have some company. That was something that Veronica rarely even entertained the thought that company would be nice. She was a solitary creature, which was a feat in and of itself given how massive her new family was.
No one would have known, but Veronica had actually considered running away from the Jones household at the beginning. She thought she kept it hidden pretty well, but no one had talked to her about it. She thought she would have been fine on her own, and she might have been. Despite how long she'd been part of the Jones family, Veronica still felt like there were some unseen conditions to her adoption that she just hadn't seen yet.
Olivia was just about as opposite of Veronica as anyone could be. Olivia was sweet. Veronica was icy. Ron could probably afford to be more like that. Still, it wasn't easy.
She pushed her blanket off her head and pulled it tighter around her. "No, I'm fine," Veronica said, knowing full well that even if she wasn't she wouldn't have sad if she wasn't fine. "I just had a bad dream. What're you doing up?"
