With the capture of Verandi Farley and several high-ranking Trossach members, the British wizarding world has finally caught a break. The rate of rogue werewolf attacks have started dropping at a steady rate and, hopefully, things will stay that way. The Ministry is starting to loosen some restrictions, like not arresting werewolves standing on the street for loitering, however there’s still an obvious power imbalance between wizardfolk and werewolves.
The Cotswolds pack are continuing to advocate for the rights of werewolves and petitioning to change the legislation that has been set in motion by the current Minister for Magic, whilst the remaining Trossachs members are trying to stay out of the spotlight and keep a low profile… for now.
Whilst the British wizarding world seems to have calmed down, the same cannot be said for over in Northern Europe where a rebellion of magical creatures has risen. The state of things has gotten so bad that the European Ministry has enacted protocols to protect those under eighteen whilst their adult witches and wizards fight to keep control of their countries.
Students from Durmstrang have been sent to Hogwarts to keep them safe and those not old enough to attend school have been sent to live with relatives or designated British Ministry officials outside of Europe for the time being.
Will the low rates of werewolf attacks in Britain continue? How long will Durmstrang students stay at Hogwarts? Will the creatures usurp the wizardfolk in Northern Europe? Only time will tell.
SEPTEMBER 2019 It's been a very long, eventful summer in the wizarding world. A baby was stolen, several high ranking Trossach members were imprisoned, and werewolf attacks have drastically dropped as a result. What will happen now school has returned?
MAY 2019 An attempt to capture the beta of the Trossachs has been launched. Were the Aurors successful in their mission? Go read more here!

Henningsen, Gustav. “Witchcraft in Denmark.” Folklore, vol. 93, no. 2, 1982, pp. 131–137
"So, to recap," Sean said, clapping his hands together when he stopped pacing in front of the classroom, "The witch hunting craze never took off in Denmark because of two laws they passed in 1547. First of all, anyone who had been found guilty of a serious crime like thievery or treason could not be credited as a witness when testifying against someone else." A piece of chalk was writing down his words on the blackboard beside him, and his tuxedo cat Sir Fluffybut was trying to jump up and catch it, but Sean pretended not to see it.
"Second of all, it was illegal to torture a person before they've been convicted. So there was no forceful coaxing of confessions from suspected witches. Afterwards, go right ahead! This eliminated the opportunity to get out of a harsh punishment by betraying others."
Sean was in a rather good mood on this spring day, so he put his hands on his hips and gave the class a wide smile.
"Now, you can put your quills away, but we've still got half an hour of time left, so lets have a chat. I'd like to hear your bright ideas!"
"Sometimes we hear tales from muggles that their local witch or wizard couldn't die until they've given some other poor soul a possession of theirs, like a book of spells or something else. Now, we all here know that we are going to die sooner or later and it's all nonsense, but do any of you have any ideas on how such a belief could have been created?"

The Denmark witch hunting was interesting, Grace had to admit it, although the thought that they could torture a person after they had been convicted... well, it was enough to make her shudder. Nobody deserved to go through that - who was to say that somebody was dangerous just because they were a witch? She certainly wasn't, and neither were most of her peers. Then there was the other point of what if they convicted the wrong person? What if their 'concrete evidence' wasn't solid enough? It happened a lot nowadays, it was even more likely to have happened in the 1500s, and they'd have been torturing an innocent soul.
Following Professor O'Keeffe's instructions of putting their quills away, Grace turned her attention towards the smiling man at the front of the classroom, taking in his question. After glancing around the classroom to see the show of hands, Grace's lips tugged into a frown as she remembered for what felt like the billionth time that Aiden was no longer in this classroom. It was surreal not being able to look across the room and spot him after they'd spent six years together in History of Magic. Trying to shake the disappointment that washed over her, Grace raised her head tentatively. "Perhaps... perhaps the witches and wizards were just deflecting what the muggles were trying to do to them and the muggles had to explain it somehow so they thought that was the reason why?"

Talking about witch trials was never Emil's favorite subject--even though it had happened many centuries ago, it reminded him of just how hostile Muggles could be, how he could never be a wizard around his own family. He preferred to learn about times of history before all that, when witches and wizards were part of a larger society. But, he reflected, it was an important part of magical history, with the Statute of Secrecy and all being still such an important law, so he sat through the class anyway.
Over the couple months that Professor O'Keeffe had been around, Emil had managed to see a side of him that some other students didn't seem to get. Their first class had gone horribly wrong, but when Emil had gone to see the professor on his own, he'd found out just how passionate the man was about history. He'd even had to magically expand the cupboards in his office to hold more books than could normally fit! Finally, Emil had someone to ask every time he wanted to know more about some subject.
As for this one, though, he had a theory. "Professor, I wonder if it's because healers can cure many Muggle illnesses? Even as simple as, we have the Pepperup Potion, but they haven't got any cure for a cold. So perhaps they thought wizards could live longer because of that, and they needed to come up with some idea of how to take away their power."

Morgan had been taking this bloody class for the past six years of her attending Hogwarts, and she could never get sick of history. People had thought this was going to be the most boring subject in all of Hogwarts, but truth be told - they should know all about the things that had happened throughout the years. The witch trials had caught Morgan’s attention, it caused her to take out every single note she had written throughout the whole matter. The exams were coming and Morgan wasn’t going to fool around, not study. That wasn’t her. She was going to make sure her grades no longer slipped. She wasn’t going to disappoint her siblings or her now deceased parents.
Morgan had found herself in the back of the classroom, having put the quill away as the Professor had said and her hands had folded on top of her textbook as she listened to him. Her right index finger playing with the ring on her left ring finger, a habit of hers lately. She still couldn’t believe that one day she’d marry her girlfriend - now fiancee.
She had listened to her classmates speak of what they had in mind, and of course Morgan had nothing to say as usual.
Truth be told, Elijah wasn’t a huge history nerd like anyone else he knew, but he wasn’t one to fail a class in his last year at Hogwarts. He wanted to pass and get the hell out of this hellhole before it took his will to live even more. The male was seated in the back of the classroom, his eyes straight at the professor as he wrote down a few more notes he thought he needed for the exam as the professor went on about the subject.
Maybe he’ll have Morgan help him study for the exams. He had leaned forward in his seat, trying to get the redhead’s attention and smiled sweetly at her when she finally glanced his way. It was then he realized she brought a hand up to what he assumed to rub her temple but instead she had flipped him the bird.
Rude.
A sigh had left him as he put his quill down and smiled a bit as he listened to his fellow classmates.
Post by KAYLIE ROUSSEAU on Dec 12, 2019 8:33:02 GMT
Kaylie HATED history and especially history taught by a professor so uptight in the ass when he opens his mouth the stick is visible. Sometimes she wondered how some of these people got the jobs in the first place. Sure she wasn't afraid of him and he damn well knew it. The last time she flipped him the bird and walked the fuck out of class because he was an outright disrespectful git who needed to get laid very badly. Maybe she should write him masturbation instructions sometime to help the poor fellow out.
The girl was leaned back, her feet on the table as she listened to him with her eyes rolling every now and then. It was then that immortality came into play and it did catch her attention. Her girlfriend was immortal, in a way and Kaylie had been intrigued by the idea of becoming like her. She didn't care how dark and low she had to go in life, nothing to her mattered really. It was odd being here without mr. smartass but he would surely have had something to say about all of this.
Grace answered his question and literally made Kaylie question why she was trying so hard. The answer vampire was right bloody there. Ugh fine, it seemed like Kaylie had to show brain here. "There are certain ways to cheat death. Vampirism, philosopher's stone... horcruxes.." she was particularly interested in the latter. "Not to mention the tales of witches being desciples of Satan.."

Mavican wasn't completely stupid, she knew something about the old witch hunts but it never really spiked her interest much. The redhead was seated beside Grace because she felt like this girl would be quite peaceful and the others were all stacked up next to their lovers so Mavican figured Grace wouldn't mind her company. The redhead leaned back in her seat with her book on her lap as she listened to the professor and then the answers of Grace and whats her name. Mavican arched her brow and thought about immortality, it was quite insane but the other two did have a point.
She rose her hand slowly and shifted her glasses. "How about an aging potion? Keep them look young?" she asked and eyed Grace. "If they don't look old they have a reason for witchcraft right?" she asked softly.

History was one of the least disturbing classes it seemed as the professor himself was quite the strict one. Scarlett was seated in the back, the spell perfectly in place to make her appear quite normal and her eyes were in the books about these witch hunts. The thought of being burned at the stake seemed like a peaceful way to go compared to what her father would have in mind for her if he ever found out what was going on with her, if anyone ever told him she'd be dead.
Scarlett cleared her throat a bit, feeling something stuck there and just listened to everyone, her thoughts her own.
