With the capture of Verandi Farley and several high-ranking Trossach members, the British wizarding world has finally caught a break. The rate of rogue werewolf attacks have started dropping at a steady rate and, hopefully, things will stay that way. The Ministry is starting to loosen some restrictions, like not arresting werewolves standing on the street for loitering, however there’s still an obvious power imbalance between wizardfolk and werewolves.
The Cotswolds pack are continuing to advocate for the rights of werewolves and petitioning to change the legislation that has been set in motion by the current Minister for Magic, whilst the remaining Trossachs members are trying to stay out of the spotlight and keep a low profile… for now.
Whilst the British wizarding world seems to have calmed down, the same cannot be said for over in Northern Europe where a rebellion of magical creatures has risen. The state of things has gotten so bad that the European Ministry has enacted protocols to protect those under eighteen whilst their adult witches and wizards fight to keep control of their countries.
Students from Durmstrang have been sent to Hogwarts to keep them safe and those not old enough to attend school have been sent to live with relatives or designated British Ministry officials outside of Europe for the time being.
Will the low rates of werewolf attacks in Britain continue? How long will Durmstrang students stay at Hogwarts? Will the creatures usurp the wizardfolk in Northern Europe? Only time will tell.
SEPTEMBER 2019 It's been a very long, eventful summer in the wizarding world. A baby was stolen, several high ranking Trossach members were imprisoned, and werewolf attacks have drastically dropped as a result. What will happen now school has returned?
MAY 2019 An attempt to capture the beta of the Trossachs has been launched. Were the Aurors successful in their mission? Go read more here!
Hugo is a pacer, moving back and forth as he thinks.
He's not very fashionable, wearing his older brother and cousin cast-offs rather than finding his own clothes.
He shows all kinds of symptoms of someone with an oral fixation. He chews on the side of his cheek absentmindedly, and is quite the teeth grinder too.
His temper is infamous, as he is quite passionate. He never seems to feel things in halves, he's either angry or happy- never in that awkward in between.
Likes: gummy lollies, astronomy, camping, bonfires, animals Dislikes: the ministry, the majority of Hogwarts, rules, unfair treatment, sleet, winter Boggart: possessed dolls Mirror of Erised: He lives in a little hermit hut, with just himself and a few half-savage animals. Patronus: Abraxan Winged Horse
history
Hugo was the second child to an absentee father and mother with postpartum depression. His older brother was Oscar Hahn, a rowdy kid who was always a little rough with Hugo. They were falling apart as a family, so Hugo was raised in a split family. From the age of seven, Hugo and Oscar were taken from house to house, each week going between one parent's home. He was glad to have his older brother, that was until in 2009 when Oscar received a sport scholarship into a fancy boarding school. Hugo made sure to make it known clear that he did not want his older brother to disappear for months on end- but he was fighting a loosing battle.
It was a year and a half later, 18th of October 2011, that Oscar was reported as missing. To say Hugo was angry is an understatement. He blamed his mother, his father and most of all himself. He felt an unrelenting responsibility to find his older brother but instead he was like a sitting duck. His parents kept him on a tight leash, fearing the loss of a second child. He was kept from group activities frequently, being allowed to see his cousins and that was about it. He didn't like his other family very much, except for Tobias.
When he first received his invitation to attend Hogwarts, the whole family was against it. They'd already lost one kid to a boarding school, they wouldn't risk it again. A staff member was dispatched to come talk to them, reassuring that Hogwarts was the safest place on earth. When Hugo learned that Tobias was going, he was sold. He had to look after his cousin, right? At least if they disappeared, they'd go together. It didn't go the way Hugo had planned.
With Tobias as a werewolf, things became a lot more complicated in Hugo's world. He watched from afar as his cousin became twisted and deranged- not from his werewolf affliction but the treatment from the other wizards. Hugo turned a critical eye onto the rest of the school, feeling like he was sitting in the backseat of a swerving car as the werewolf rules became stricter and the prejudice voices became clearer.
Others like him, family members of werewolves, found each other. Weekly meetings let the bitterness and resentment rot inside his core. He helped orchestrate the attack on the Winterball and despite being stuck in St Mungos for it, he is no less proud of the chaos they caused. Someone aught to be listening now, for that brief moment that Hugo got hold of the steering wheel.
Hugo gave a firm nod to the sixth year boy in front of him, “We’ll be barracking the doors. Let Ariana, Miguel and Theo have their fun.” He kept his voice to a murmur, gesturing to the other seventh year to follow behind him as he turned towards Theo. He watched them walk with narrowed eyes, calculating their moves. He wasn’t as optimistic as he assumed their leader Theo was. Hugo was sure they’d be caught, but he wasn’t going down without a fight. Many weeks of discussions had brought this to life, allowing the group to exact their revenge on those who have wronged the families of werewolves. The supporters of werewolves would be the only ones spared by Hugo, and even that was an uncertainty.
His mouth was a firm frown but eyes betrayed the giddy feeling of chaos that was right at his finger tips. As Theo threw open the door, he advanced forwards with his hands tapping the lids on the powder in his pockets. His stoic expression turned downright vicious as he prowled into the doorway. The two others slammed the doors behind him as he deftly withdrew the powder. Peruvian Instant Darkness Powder was a pranking device, a chaos causer and Hugo’s greatest weapon. He threw it into the air, pulling out his wand as people began to scream. Kate and Sergio knew not to move an inch, that they would be throwing spells blindly.
He grinned as the noise rose, throwing a few stupefies and more dangerous spells such as Alarte Ascendare. Revenge tasted so very sweet.
